Kobus Badenhorst
Kobus Badenhorst is the driving force behind About Branding Marketing (Pty) Ltd, with over two decades of experience in the branding and signage industry. He holds a BSc degree in Natural Science, majoring in Botany and Zoology, from Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) in Johannesburg, where he studied from 1985 to 1990.
Kobus began his career in 1993 at the Johannesburg City Council’s Roads Department, managing the maintenance of roadsides and parks. During this time, he oversaw applications from advertising companies for the installation of static billboards, sparking his interest in the signage industry. In 1996, he accepted a sales position with a leading advertising production house, marking the start of his journey in branding. Within two years, his success in the industry earned him a partnership in the company.
By 2000, Kobus was appointed as Sales Director at a competing production house, where he deepened his expertise in signage, print, and branding solutions. In 2002, he founded Lighthouse Advertising Solutions, which grew into a thriving medium-sized business. In 2014, the company rebranded to become About Branding, offering a wide range of services, including signage, print, billboard structures, and vehicle branding.
Kobus is also an avid sportsman with a passion for endurance events. He has completed two Comrades Marathons (90km), four Two Oceans Marathons (56km), and over 20 standard marathons (42.2km). His adventurous spirit extends to feats like the Bloukrans Bungy jump and completing Cape Town’s 13 Peaks Challenge.
A new-found passion for competitive sailing at Royal Cape Yacht Club has led him to be part of the winning crew for the 2023 Mykonos Offshore Race.
Kobus applies the same endurance and commitment from his sports endeavors to his business philosophy. He believes in seeing every project through to completion, delivering top-quality results on time, and instilling these values in his team. For Kobus, second-best is never an option—he aims to exceed expectations with every client.
